YOUNGBLOOD EDITIONS

The YoungBlood Editions is a new initiative by the Queensland Centre for Photography to encourage and support emerging Queensland photomedia artists in the development of their careers.

The publication:
A publication is an important tool for an artist to be recognized and can be used as leverage to access new markets. YoungBlood Editions provides emerging artists to the opportunity to have their work published, presenting one body of work with a commissioned essay.

The exhibition:
An exhibition is vital for the development of an artist career, providing a platform in which the artist can showcase his/her work, gain feedback from audiences and accessing key markets (Curators, collectors, writers etc). The exhibition opening will act as the launch of the YoungBlood Editions publication.

The international project:
The QCP has been participating in photo l.a. (Los Angeles, USA) since 2007, showcasing the works of Queensland artists with the aim to expose the artists to new markets and to create sustainable artist careers. The artist selected for the YoungBlood Editions would be short-listed for the QCP’s next attendance to an international art fair. If selected for the international project, the artist would be promoted nationally as part of the project, as well as benefiting from QCP’s extensive international networks.
