The Australian PhotoJournalist (APJ) is a crusading annual journal, published through Griffith University's Queensland College of Art, that seeks to address issues affecting journalists but more specifically photojournalists. The APJ is about making a difference. Our mission is to produce a magazine that is not only a testament to the unquestionable calibre of our discipline, but also casts a critical eye on global journalism and mass media practices.
On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To commemorate this historic act the Australian PhotoJournalist has dedicated an entire issue to stories documenting global human rights abuses. Picturing Human Rights is a 272-page full-colour book features 19 stories from some of the worlds leading and most dedicated journalists. Picturing Human Rights includes the work of photographers such as Jodi Bieber, Lauren Greenfield, Juan Medina, Kate Schermerhorn and Donald Weber to name just a few.
