Adelaide artist Deborah Paauwe’s series Carousel is of various female subjects dressed in soft peach, pink and other flesh coloured dresses that float and flare out around them in playful display. The series is an extension of traditional forms of portraiture. The viewer cannot be sure of the subject’s real age or general appearance. The models faces are hidden as Paauwe has shot the series from above and obscured their faces with hairstyles.
