Siegfried Manietta’s Requiem represents a departure from his long-established practice of photographing the Australian landscape. Bypassing the camera entirely through the darkroom technique of the chemogram, Manietta has created landscapes, which exist outside of place and time. This work forms a lyrical and moving expression of the emotion that comes with the confrontation of mortality.
