The interaction between the visual and the written word are central to Liz Bolster’s series My Own Words. Using a typewriter to directly mark her negatives, the artist overlay photographs with her short form poetry. This series explores the tensions that arise when a record of the external world and an expression of personal thoughts are layered within the same image.
