1-29 March: Doll Awakenings by Anna Jacobson (QLD)
Doll Awakenings by Anna Jacobson (QLD).
Category: Exhibitions
Clowns and old dolls go together with creepy noises like axes and locked doors or weird kids and ouija boards. Anna Jacobson has a preoccupation with abandoned spaces and old things; she uses them to animate possible histories and recreate frightening tales out of her childhood imaginings. She brings these dark fairy tales to life using experimental video techniques and stop motion photography. This intimate work represents the subtle longing and decay of the past, a glimpse into the realm of memory and photography.
Extract from catalogue essay by Ray Cook, the catalogue will be available from the QCP during the exhibition.
