'My Own Words' by Liz Bolster

Notions of narrative are critically examined in this body of work. With the interaction of fictional and non-fictional narrative, the conventions of self-portraiture are challenged.

I am drawing on literary and visual concept authors such as William Burroughs, J.G Ballard and Allen Ginsberg and their ideas of non-linear narrative formations. I am also drawing on their experimental approaches and results regarding literature.

This experiment creates an interaction between the photographic image and literary constructs. The first in an ongoing exploration of the response between the visual and literary, this body of work poses the question, how does incorporation a literary construct interact with the photographic image?
