QCA Student Proposal

Assessment and Selection Procedure

An assessment panel made up of photographic artists from the QCP management board and staff choose the exhibitions for the upcoming round of shows each term; the choice will aim to represent a broad group of concerns including international, interstate and state exhibitions to fit with our mission statement. When possible external assesors will be sought to complement and refresh the selection process.

Artistic Policies

  • To broaden audiences through diverse and excellent art practice.
  • To recognize, inform and educate the public about the history of photographic art practice.
  • To encourage art practice that is innovative and experimental.
  • To promote innovative and diverse curatorial practice.
  • To promote photographic emerging artists and create opportunities for emerging Queensland artists to develop their careers.
  • To provide established artists with an environment in which to extend their practice.
  • To encourage collaborations among photographic artists, emerging and established alike.
  • To stimulate dialogue between photography and the visual arts.
  • To promote excellence in art.
  • To develop and extend critical debate about contemporary photographic art practice.
  • To encourage the voice of minority groups.

Gallery Space

The QCP Gallery has recently received sponsorship from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University to cover the cost of Window Gallery and Plasma Screen for QCA students.

  • Plasma Screen (in Window)

The QCP will provide

  • 4 weeks exhibition space
  • Help with installation of artworks if needed
  • E-mail invitation and selected mail-out
  • Catalogue with essay of exhibition period (one for all the artists)
  • Images and information on the QCP website
  • Opening event services
  • Minding of gallery during the period

Submission

Send the following to: QCP, PO Box 5848, West End Qld 4101

  • Exhibition proposal form
  • Brief project description (max 1 A4 page)
  • Visual documentation, max 10 images (in the form of jpeg files and/or video on a CD/DVD). The images don't have to be the ones to be exhibited but should be representative of the works proposed for the exhibition.
  • Optional: additonal materials that may support your application (such as catalogues, references, media coverage or criticism).
