This body of work comes from exploring the American tradition of ‘on-the-road’ photography, mapping people and landscape by journeying through foreign lands.

It is a largely spontaneous response to elements in the immediate environment, a delicate walk between intention and chance, accompanied by feelings of empathy and estrangement.

My work concentrates on the unspectacular and banal, often denied aspects of urban and suburban life, simultaneously questioning our human relationship with the environment and each other.

The images imply a human presence or occupation of this world on the fringe. The rare presence of human subjects within the images serves to transfer this sense of occupation to the viewer.
