Portraits by Nathan Corum (QLD)

The circular pixelated effect demonstrated in the Corumscope series was created with basic, crude analogue materials such as butchers paper and cardboard tubes, and references the colourful aesthetic of numerical colour-blind tests. No digital techniques were implemented in any stage of the photographs creation.

Through this hand made device the subject has become obscured, yet at a further viewing distance the subject becomes easier to identify. This portrait questions the photographic ideals of obscured identity, form, resemblance, and simplicity.
