Renata’s interest in aerial and micro imaging of the environment and its processes as well as in photographic processes, led her to establish a unique photographic process called the Biochrome. Through her art Renata discovered how to utilize nature’s own creative power, as this process focuses on organic decomposition and its effects on photographic materials. Her practice builds on the traditions of botanical illustrations as well as the pioneering and experimental photographic techniques of W.H. Fox Talbot and Anna Atkins. At the same time creating Biochrome images brings about a new perspective into the use of photographic materials by pushing the boundaries of the photographic medium.
