Sonja de Sterke migrated from the Netherlands to Australia in 1991 in search of a more meaningful creative life. Since she has acquired a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Visual Arts in photography from Griffith University in Brisbane and has worked as a full time Photographer for Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane for over ten years. Her personal art-practice is her outlet for her passion of nature, spirituality and quantum physics. Since she has published her limited edition art- book “Spirit Landscape” by Asuka Books (2007). Her other specialties are community events and Portraits. Current projects have been Woodford Folkfestival Queensland and the Dreaming festival.

My aim is to make visible the invisible and for the audience to connect to my images on a spiritual level. I would like my photography to ask questions about reality and to show the possibilities in life that surround us. In using a variety of photographic techniques like variations in shutter times and different kinds of filters I aim to depict how something can be perceived in a different way other then by our eye.
